Neck Cooler

Neck Cooler.jpg

This amazing neck cooler is very useful for when you need something cold on your skin because you feel like you’re going to collapse into a melted pile of disgusting ex-human slime. Yeah, there’s a little sewing involved, and getting some of those water absorbing polymer crystals, but when you start making them - you can make money at every summer hippie festival in the country - er, for the good of humanity, we mean…

PDA Stylus Mod

Stylus Mod.jpg

88bytes has done it again. A very simple mod requiring an old pen (which will be intentionally destroyed) and a PDA stylus, it does the job of modifying the length of the stylus itself to make it pen-sized. It will save you 25 euros ($33.92). There’s even a disclaimer at the bottom!

Comp-Controlled Power Switch

Lamp Computer Switch.jpg

This instructable was sent to us from a nice red-headed gentleman known as Stephen Arsenault (which was originally spelled “Steven” in the post, then Kristi got corrected and called a “fiend”!). In it, he explains how to operate on-off switches remotely from your PC. In this particular tutorial, he uses a lamp as the object to be controlled, and he does a thorough job of making it seem really badass. Plus he name-drops Neo from The Matrix. Crazy. But we love the crazies, here.

Calling All Microcontroller Hobbyists - Again

Arduino Breadboard.jpg

The email we received from David Fowler says it all:

“Here is a truly barebones Arduino setup. Just the Arduino chip and a few support parts. This has to be close to the simplest and lowest cost way to play with microcontrollers. The only special parts are the resonator and the Mega168 programmed with the Arduino boot loader. Everything else you should have if you are already playing around in electronics.”

There you have it! Easy to make microcontrollers, nearly free!
