Building your own speakers will not only give you a better sound, but you’ll most likely get it at a cheaper price. You can get the enclosure pre-fabricated, pick the speakers, do a little DIY magic and you’re good to go. Here’s a good article showing you how to make your own speakers, and it even goes into a little bit of the science of sound.
Is anyone drooling? We recently got word of this project from our tip line:
“This project is a very simple set of bookshelf sized speakers. The enclosure used is a prefabricated speaker cabinet with curved sides and a deep piano gloss finish. The speaker uses a single fullrange driver. The finished cabinets make it easy to knock off a great looking and sounding speaker in no time.”
Sweet! Keep the tips coming, guys - and thanks!
Got a big blank wall staring you down and haunting your dreams? Spruce it up with some wall panels made from interesting fabrics! This can be a relatively inexpensive project that will fill up a very large wall. Discount fabrics can be had for a few bucks a yard, or you can spring for the fancy stuff and pay a bit more. Canvases or any other uniform square object can be used to make the panels. See what interesting combinations of colors and patterns you can come up with!
Show your support for the rebellion against the galactic empire by sporting this incredibly awesome cap modeled after our beloved hero, R2D2. This brings us back to a time when the comedy relief character was actually cool instead of incredibly annoying (ahem … jar jar … ahem).
Make hats for your loved ones and affix restraining bolts to help keep them in line. Make one for yourself and instantly gain knowledge about how to hack into imperial systems, fly X-Wings, and more!
R2D2 Beanie. [Thanks, Tom!]
If you’re interested in a group or special interest circle - any kind, of course - you can find other likeminded people in this awesome site. I just re-joined the vegetarian meetups, back in the day I belonged to metalhead meetups, and I feel as though a yoga meetup or professional/networking meetup would also benefit me. What benefits you? Check here, or create a meetup group all by yourself! Then when you attend awkward family parties and they ask what you’re doing with your life, you can say “well I organize events for this big website online!”. They will most likely be impressed. But then your computer whiz uncle will prod you about it and ruin the facade. Fun while it lasts!

Card stock, pencils, scissors, ruler, knife. If you have those things in your possession (I know you do, don’t lie!) you can make these sweet cards for your bf, gf, bff, bbff, bgff, or whatever eff-eff combo you like. Happy Creating!
