Make Your Own Compost

Compost Heap.jpg

Here's an environmentally-friendly project. A compost heap can be beneficial in a number of ways, not just to gardeners and freaky organic homesteaders who live off the "fatta the land". It can be used to as a heater, food for a worm farm, and it's always good to reduce the amount of junk we pile into landfills and other large piles of waste. It's a cool chemistry project, involving chemical reactions, and even physics. Scientific, messy, gross, smushy, dirty, houses creepy insects and invertebrates... what's not to like? Here's how to get started, and there's a few good tips for making your own compost, as well as what to throw in there, and what to keep away from your hodgepodge of garbagey wealth.
