Sound Level Indicator

Here are some fairly simple plans (schematic) for building a sound level meter. This could be useful for checking the dB level of your raging house party to avoid noise ordinance tickets, or could be integrated into a piece of art that reacts to the sound waves around it. The circuit will even automagically increase its range 20dB to adjust for louder sounds.
